These 20-30 minute programs are full of books, songs and art activities that  are designed to help develop your child’s language and motor skills. After storytime, your child will participate in a process-oriented art project to explore art materials and the world around them. Process-oriented art focuses on what can be learned from the act of making art rather than the product.

Books to Brushes: Strengthening Literacy Through Art

Release your inner artist this Black History Month! Books to Brushes couples participatory reading activities with instructor-led painting sessions. In honor of Black History Month, children and teens will read and discuss a black history related book and paint a picture inspired by it. The session will be led by founder and teaching artist, Anike Robinson. Ms. Robinson is a Washington, D.C. based interdisciplinary artist with a master's degree in secondary education. She uses art as a means to support literacy in the classroom for grades K-12.
