For safety's sake, there is a limit of 75 participants for each story time.
Remember -- there is a story time at 10 a.m. and another at 11 a.m.

Brood 2 of the 17 year cicadas are coming to the East Coast.... soon and very soon. These flying, red-eyed creatures will quickly be upon us, and the creative minds at WNYC's Radiolab have made a cicada tracker to follow the emergence of the brood.
Join other Capitol Hill residents in contributing to this crowdsourced information about the cicadas in D.C.
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7 p.m., a Southeast Branch staff member will be available to help you submit your cicada sighting to the tracker.
By mid-June, you may have to wade through the cicada shells to get up to the library, but it will be worth it.

Introduce your child to a love of reading and the library at our weekly Wednesday story times. Each week enjoy adapted stories, songs and movement activities that engage children.
Ages birth-36 months.

An interactive story time to encourage early literacy skills for one-year-old children through stories, songs and rhymes.
Ages 12 - 24 months.

Baby/toddler lap times are story times geared for babies ages birth to 24 months and their caregivers.
Starting March 6, 2013, tickets will be required for entry.

Come explore the world and new ideas through reading stories, movies, arts and crafts.
Story time is held in the Children's Area Story Room. All programs are free and open to the public.

Preschool Story Time is a read aloud program for children up to 5 years old (and their parents or caregivers). It is designed to deliver the pre-literacy and early literacy skills that will prepare children to successfully learn to read once they enter school. These essential skills are presented in a fun package that includes stories, visuals, music, movement and rhyme. The activities from Preschool Story Time (such as rhymes & chants, songs, stretches, and even picture books) can easily be repeated at home, allowing parents and caregivers to play an active role in their child's early literacy learning!

Come join us for some food, fun and music as we kick off Books & Bites -- a limited engagement with some of D.C.'s tastiest food trucks in front of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.
And if you can't make it out on Wednesday, the trucks will be back next week. But this food truck special is only for a limited time, so don't dally.

Attention Explorers!
This week, the Tenley Library Explorers Club is shooting off into outer space! We'll be exploring constellations and stars in galaxies far, far away. We'll take a look at the myths and stories in the night sky, and create one of our own!
We'll be meeting in the Tenley Library Story Time Room. All school-aged explorers are welcome to attend.

Thanks to a LSTA grant, the Anacostia Neighborhood Library will have a representative from the Young Playwrights Theatre on Wednesdays throughout May.
Students ages 8 to 16 are invited to come with any ideas, questions they may have about developing scripts and producing plays. We'll be developing scripts, with a possibility to produce them later on!
All students with a flair for the dramatic are invited to attend.
