Sometimes it's tough to go inside on a beautiful summer day. Good news: you can enjoy stories and songs AND soak up the sun at our weekly outdoor storytime! In conjunction with CityCenterDC, librarians from the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library will be hosting a preschool storytime for the community's children, their, families, and caregivers on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Storytime will be held in the CityCenter's Plaza at 9th and H Street NW.
Since the start of 2014, the staff at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library's Children's Room have been doing a program called STEAM Team. STEAM is an acronym standing for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. It highlights a trend in education where students focus on these subjects through enriching activities, which is what the Children's Room's STEAM Team program hopes to accomplish.
The DC Public Library Special Collections Department is celebrating Pride Month with an exhibit highlighting items from Washington's gay and lesbian history. The exhibit features sermons, church bulletins and papers from the R. Michael Vanzant/Faith Temple Collection in the DC Community Archives.
