Doggie Diaries X: Adventures at the Library
From Jasper’s Diary: Wednesday September 29, 2010
G’day. It’s Jasper, otherwise known as “Mr. Calm,” reporting. Originally a West Coast guy, from California. We are laid-back sorts, not as uptight as these East Coasters. I believe in giving back to the community, which is why I became a PAL dog. I help out when and how I can. It’s the right thing to do.
One unique feature about me is that I have one blue eye and one brown eye. It’s kind of cool, right?
Well, it was a chill evening at the library for the most part. I really love stories, so the library is one of the most happening places in the city, in my book. Some stand-outs of the night were; Dogs Don’t Do Ballet by Anna Kemp, Too Many Cats by Lori Haskins Houran, and Detective LaRue: Letters from the Investigation by Mark Teague.
Now I don’t want to be a party-pooper; however, I do have one little complaint. You see, I really don’t enjoy having my picture taken. Never have! And, on many occasions, while I was engaged and enjoying the story, Miss Julie would creep up and click, click, click her little camera. And, it was usually at the best part of the story! It was kind of annoying. I wanted to say, “Hey, Library Lady, put down the camera, would you?” However, I am far too polite for that. I dropped a subtle hint or two and hope she got the message. You see, I like to keep it simple; a pat, a book, a liver treat, and call it good. Well, I feel better getting that off my furry chest.
