From Ava’s Diary: Wednesday February 2, 2011
Hi, it’s Ava, a local celebrity in the Chevy Chase community. I have been coming to the library since September as a PAL representative to help children improve their reading. I am very proud to notice the progress some readers have made. It makes my heart sing! I curl up in readers’ laps and listen. I am quiet. I sit back and enjoy the story and companionship. Most of the children know that I am an active girl so they like to take me on walks around the children’s room to stretch my legs between stories. It’s a perfectly lovely way to spend an evening.
Tonight I heard all sorts of stories, some about dogs and some not. My favorite dog books were: Mutt Dog by Stephen Michael King, Martha Speaks Thief of Hearts by Karen Barss, and Wag a Tail by Lois Ehlert. My favorite non-dog books were: My First Hanukkah Book by Clare Lister and If you give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff.
Apart from home and Rock Creek Park, the library is my favorite place to be!
Wags away,
Ava
