From Dakota’s Diary: Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Tonight I was mellow at the library. Last week I had a lot to say. This week I just kicked back and shared a few show-and-tell items (mostly my favorite toys). Boys love their toys! Harpo, my PAL pal, was really keen on my toys. He was like a pup at a bone buffet! I have a soft spot for that furry goofball. I think everyone does. I let him keep one of my squeakers. He was very pleased.
At the library I was thinking about the three kittens I left behind at my house. We are all the best of friends. We give each other “kitty kisses,” little nose-to-nose rubs of affection. I wished they could have come to the library with me; however, sometimes we all have to do our own thing. I wanted them to know that I was thinking about them, so I paid careful attention to Miss Julie’s craft project. I plan to show the kitties how to make them at home. Although, I was thinking that instead of making puppy portraits, we would make kitty portraits. Clever, right? We’ll need:
- 10 wooden craft sticks
- 1 bottle of liquid glue
- 1 silhouette image of a kitty
- 1 pencil
- 1 paint brush
- 1 cup of black paint
- 1 cup of bright-colored paint
- 1 cup of water
Here’s what we’ll do:
- Glue each craft stick, one by one, to the edge of the next.
- Let it dry.
- Trace the kitty image to the craft stick board with a pencil.
- Paint in the kitty silhouette with black paint.
- Let it dry.
- Paint the outside a bright color for a sharp contrast.
- Let it dry.
- Enjoy kitty portrait.
I thought it was a very appropriate choice for one little girl to read Art Dog by Thacher Hurd to me. I do get a creative streak when I am in the library. Well, I need to wash my paws before bedtime. Better go.
Woof, Woof to all!
