"Crossing the Tracks"

This June, discover first-time novelist Barbara Stuber, whose book Crossing the Tracks has stirred up some dust. After her mother's death, the 15-year-old heroine, Iris, is placed by her father as a housekeeper and companion to an elderly woman located in rural Missouri.
Iris struggles to create order in a life without direction and family. Tragedy strikes her again, but by summer's end she understands the nature of trust, hope and love.
