Yesterday was my birthday! I am six now. I celebrated with my mates on Sunday. We:
- Bobbed for carrots
- Played pin the nose on the doggie
- Ate frozen doggie yogurt
- Had a doggone good time
Today Miss Julie and the PAL gang sang “Happy Birthday, Dear Fred-die” to me. I love the way it sounds when a whole room sings my name. It makes my ears perk up and my heart thump. Birthdays are special. And 365 days is a long wait between birthdays.
Here are three interesting facts that you might not know about me:
- I am a sniffer. I experience the world through my nose first. It’s the hound dog in me. You see, I am part hound and part shepherd (Note: hound + shepherd = handsome).
- I am an expert swimmer. I LOVE to swim and swam every chance I got this summer.
- I am a bibliophile. (Note: Bibliophile is a fancy word for bookworm.) I have loved books for as long as I can remember.
Tonight I heard Clifford and the Big Storm by Norman Bridwell – I love that big, red doggie!; No Roses for Harry by Gene Zion – I love that dirty dog!; Sally goes to the Farm by Stephen Huneck – I love Sally. She’s sensational!; and Dora Salva el Reino de Cristal by Molly Reisner – to be honest, I didn’t understand a thing, but it sure sounded pretty.
Fondly,
Freddie
