Book Club Selection for September
The ever-increasing variety of foods available to modern consumers has meant that most people of a certain age have at least experimented with different eating habits, such as vegetarianism or veganism.
The birth of his first child and the accompanying realization that he would have to make dietary choices for another human being have spurred Jonathan Safran Foer to probe into the machinations of factory farms, societal and national eating habits, and his own family’s ancestral relationship with food, culminating in this humorous, philosophical and engaging account of how we justify the dietary choices we make—or quietly acquiesce to the foods society compels us to eat.
The Mt. Pleasant Library Book Club will meet Wednesday, October 5, at 7 p.m. at La Casa, located right next door to the interim library. For more information, please contact Ana Elisa de Campos Salles at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 202-671-3122.
