If things aren’t working out at home and you find yourself out of the house (even if it’s only for a few days or weeks), there are a few places you can go for help:
Safe Place Hotline 24/7
If you’re in immediate need of help or services, you can call 202-547-7777.
National Runaway Switchboard 24-Hour Line
Runaways can call this number for immediate help. Counselors will listen to you in a non-judging way and help find shelter or counseling nearby. Kids can leave a message for their parents, or counselors will arrange a conference call with parents. Call 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929).
Covenant House
Provides food, shelter, emergency and support services to at-risk, homeless, throwaway and runaway youth. Call 202-610-9632.
Sasha Bruce House
Offers services for 11- to 17-year-olds. Call 202-546-4900.
National Coalition for the Homeless
For those who are homeless or need help to avoid homelessness.
