Women Who Are Funny

2011 was a banner year for books by women humorists. Bossypants by Tina Fey, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling and Serious--I'm Kidding by Ellen Degeneres flew off the shelves. 2011 also saw the publication of staff favorites such as My BoyFriend Wrote a Book About Me by Hilary Winston and What I Hate: From A to Z by cartoonist Roz Chast.
To celebrate (a tad belatedly), the Chevy Chase D.C. Library introduced a new display entitled "We Don't Care if You Like It" (a reference to Fey's response to this famous essay). It features works from current humorists such as Fey, Slone Crosley and Amy Sedaris, as well as classics by Dorothy Parker, Veronica Geng and Erma Bombeck.
You can also watch some of our favorite humorists on video.
You can watch Kaling talk about Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? on The Daily Show.
You can also hear Steve Martin interview Roz Chast about her work.
Enjoy!
