Celebrating Mother's Day at Southwest
Published on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 - 10:41am
We had a great time in the children's room last Thursday, celebrating all the important women in our lives.
After a special Mother's Day-themed story time, the baby and toddler class made hand-print bouquets to thank their moms for always being around to "lend a hand" when needed. Everyone had fun playing around with the paint and crayons.
Later, the older elementary kids stepped up their game and spent the afternoon learning how to fold origami flowers and stems to create one-of-a-kind folded paper bouquets. The bright colors and sharp folds came together to make Mother's Day gifts that will never wilt or go out of style!
If you missed last Thursday's activities, never fear! We have tons of great origami books available for checkout and some extra origami paper to practice with. Stop by the children's room in the Southwest Neighborhood to learn more about this program and to learn about upcoming programs that you might be interested in attending. (Remember: Father's Day is just around the corner!)
From all of us at Southwest, Happy Mother's Day to all the great women in our lives!
