Looking for a good book to read this November? Celebrate National American Indian Heritage Month by picking up a copy of Sherman Alexie’s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and joining Ms. Bobbie for a discussion.
Meet Junior, an expert doodler growing up on the Spokane Indian Reservation (the Rez) in Washington state. Junior is fed up with the less-than-stellar education he is receiving on the Rez. Determined to take his future into his own hands, he leaves home to attend an all-white high school.
Sounds perfect right? Maybe not, when the only other Indian at his high school is the mascot.
Ages 12 to 19.
