The Washington Post donated the Washington Star newspaper archives to the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) but retains copyright to Star staff images. DCPL is licensed to sell reproductions and to permit the use of Star staff photographs and newsprint editions. DCPL and the Post do not hold copyright to wire service and certain other images in the collection.
I understand that permission is granted for one-time use of images in the project listed below with non-exclusive world-wide rights for this and all subsequent editions, revisions, and derivative works, in English and in foreign translations, in all formats, including CD-ROM and electronic media for an indefinite period. Photographic materials may not be reused for another project without written permission of DCPL.
