Mission: Preservation

This past Monday afternoon, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture treated Ms. Brown's fifth-grade class at Calvary Christian Academy to an engaging lesson on racial segregation under Jim Crow laws.
During "Mission Preservation" students read out loud Ruth and the Green Book by Calvin Ramsey. They explored how authentic artifacts from the time period can help tell the ugly story of inequality and how best to preserves today's special items for future generations.
Much thanks to the Friends of the Woodridge Library who generously sponsored the purchase of a copy of Ruth and the Green Book for each of the students.
