Too Busy for a Book Club?
Published on Thursday, March 7, 2013 - 11:09am
We frequently hear from customers that would love to join a book club but are simply too busy. Or maybe they cannot find a book club with a meeting time that matches their schedule. That is why DCPL has an online book club, where you can discuss books whenever you have the time, from your computer or smartphone.
We meet on Goodreads, the most popular social media site for books. You will have to sign up for the site, which is free and only takes a moment, and after that you can join the conversation in the DC Public Library group. We hold month-long discussions on various genres and topics, and the conversations don't end when the month does, so you can share your thoughts on a particular book literally anytime you have an Internet connection.
This month, we are discussing Graphic Novels, so whether you have a lot of expertise to share or don't know where to start with the genre, answer our poll, join the conversation, and tell us what you think!
We have a lot more to offer than just a book club you can participate in while wearing your pajamas. You can get help from actual DCPL librarians on deciding what to read next, what to give a reader as a gift, and any other book related question you may have. You can browse our librarian-curated bookshelves on books that take place in DC during different eras, sign up for book giveaways, and learn about local resources and things to do for book lovers.
To join us, click on the links above, or visit www.goodreads.com and search for the DC Public Library group.
