Celebrating Poetry at the Georgetown Neighborhood Library
We launch our monthly poetry reading series that will be held on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. Well-known local poets will read from their works.
Featured poets for April are Herb Guggenheim and Fred Pollack.
Herb Guggenheim was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Silver Spring, Md. His work has appeared in many magazines and anthologies, including the Beloit Poetry Journal, the Florida Review, Gargoile, Poetry Quarterly and the Washington Review.
In 2013, his poem "Coats" was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. His book Sunset at the Hotel Mira Mar: New and Selected Poems was released by Infinity Publishing in 2011.
He's adjunct professor of creative writing at the George Washington University. His poetics: "neither navel-gazing mainstream nor pseudo-avant-garde."
