Descriptive Movies

Descriptive movies provided to eligible patrons by the Center for Accessibility at the DC Public Library include narration of key elements, such as characters’ actions, costuming, gestures, and facial expressions, as well as scene changes and onscreen text. These descriptions are heard during the natural pauses in dialogue, and the result is a finished soundtrack that enables viewers with visual impairments to fully understand a film through listening.

Circulation of these movies is limited to patrons registered with the DC Talking Book and Braille Library. To register for the service, please visit the DC Talking Book and Braille Library page and review the eligibility requirements before submitting an application for service.
