The Morehouse College Glee Club and Quartet in Concert

Are you interested in a rich tradition of standard classical church music? Music of African American composers and heritage music?  If so, you do not want to miss a free concert by The Morehouse College Glee Club, one of the nation's oldest all-male collegiate glee clubs.

On Friday, March 24, beginning at 12 p.m., the Morehouse College  Glee Club will perform at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library.

The acclaimed choir has sung with noted celebrities such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole and mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves. Its musical talents can be heard on the soundtracks to three Spike Lee films, School Daze (1988), Miracle at St. Anna (2008) and Red Hook Summer (2012), as well as listened to on eleven albums that include the 2011 release Centennial Celebration in recognition of the Choir’s 100th year of musical legacy and its 2012 release of live recordings titled The Morehouse College Glee Club. In celebration of its 105th year of musical excellence in 2016, the Glee Cub released its newest CD, In Need of Music.

The distinguished ensemble is currently directed by dynamic virtuoso Dr. David Morrow, a 1980 Morehouse graduate and class valedictorian who received the Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan in 1981 and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1995.
