The Library Store, Books Plus
Books Plus Closure, Online Shopping & Periodic Book Sales
Books Plus
The Books Plus bookstore at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library closed permanently on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011. The bookstore will be removed to make way for the first phase of renovations and refurbishments to take place on the first floor of the central library. Though the bookstore has closed, seasonal book sales will continue, so please check this page from time-to-time for notice of upcoming sales and special events.
Proceeds from the online sale of former library items are used to buy new books and materials for the library. Proceeds from periodic on-site sales of library items and donated materials benefit the new book and materials fund as well as special literacy programs like the summer reading programs for children.

10th Annual Fall Book Sale
Each year on the second Saturday in September, Books Plus cooperates with the Friends of the DC Public Library and the Penn Quarter neighborhood organization to present an annual Fall Book Sale. This year, the event will take place September 7-8, 2012. Look for outstanding values on used books, outdoors under the loggia of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. The sale will offer thousands upon thousands of used books for sale to the public. We welcome volunteers to help staff this event.
