Green Building Design
The library is seeking LEED Certification of at least Silver for all new buildings. Specific energy efficient features vary by location, and include elements such as:
- raised floors for optimized air circulation
- vegetative green roofs or white reflective roofs
- sun screens
- materials with high recycled content
- low-flow and “smart” plumbing fixtures
- “smart” light fixtures
- drought-resistance landscaping
- bicycle racks
