A 10,000-square-foot library will be part of a new 63,000-square-foot aquatic and community center opening in the Deanwood neighborhood at 49th and Meade streets N.E.  The community center will open in mid-2010.  

In addition to the library, the center will include:

• Indoor swimming pool
• Locker rooms
• Gymnasium
• Game room
• Child care facilities
• Senior facilities
• Kitchen
• Multipurpose rooms

The new library and community center will share space for a computer lab, senior rooms, tutoring rooms and community meeting rooms. The center will be environmentally friendly to meet LEED Silver green building standards.
 
This project is a partnership between the Deputy Mayor’s Office and the Department of Parks and Recreation and is being managed by the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development.
