The Library recently completed an extensive “makeover” of this building. The makeover included preservation and restoration of original interior finishes; installation of more appropriate lighting, furniture and floor coverings; elevator improvements; and electrical and fire alarm upgrades.
Exterior work included restoration of doors, windows and trim; installation of historically-appropriate exterior lighting; masonry cleaning and repointing; and extensive landscape improvements. The initial phase of makeover involved renovation of the restrooms, which was completed in June 2008.
Originally slated to take six months, the project was completed a full month ahead of schedule. The library reopened on Tuesday, March 10.
