50th Anniversary Balloons

Countdown to the 50th Anniversary Celebration at Palisades Library on November 15!

The Palisades Library will celebrate 50 years at the V St NW location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Library Director Richard Reyes-Gavilan will lead a keynote address beginning at 1:30 p.m. A special day of events is planned including technology workshops, local bands, and a puppet show!  See a 3-D printer in action and meet local community groups!  The day's events have been generously supported by the Friends of Palisades Library.

Jacqueline Woodson has written books for children, teens, and adults. Some of her works include: Another Brooklyn, Each Kindness, Hush, Miracle's Boys, and Show Way.  Brown Girl Dreaming is her autobiography.  It has won the National Book Award and the Coretta Scott King Award among others. Let's celebrate Black History Month with a book discussion. For ages 13-19, but all are welcome.

Earn Community Service Hours as a Tutor

GIVE is a nonprofit who can pair you with an elementary or middle school child. You will help that child with their academic work and act as a mentor to them. This is a fun way to give back to the community and earn community service hours. We meet Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the children's room.  For more information, email directors@giveyouth.org.

Book to Movie Night: Queen of Katwe

Love chess?  Love movies?  Love true stories of underdogs beating the odds? Then come enjoy the movie "Queen of Katwe" in the Teen Space from 5-7 p.m.  A discussion of the film, chess, and adaptation of the book to the screen will accompany the movie.
