Poetry Slam and Open Mic

In honor of Dr. King's talent for oration and moving people with spoken word, we invite youth ages 12-18 to read a poem, sing a song, or just speak their mind.  Refreshments will be served and community service hours will be given.  Hosted by Teen Advisory Group. 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room.

What is the story of Thanksgiving from a Native American perspective? Visit Teen Space to review two written works by Native American authors and have lively discussions with your peers about what we can learn from their experiences. To wrap up, create a collage to represent your view of Thanksgiving. Ages 13-19.

November 12-20, 2016 is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Join community members as the Tenleytown Library hosts a public neighborhood gathering to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness that affect far too many people in DC.

November 12-20, 2016 is National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week.  Local students gather for a special After-School Lounge program to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Join speakers and advocates for services to homeless teens in the District.  Help library staff prepare care packages to be distributed among Tenleytown's homeless population. Lots of Snacks!
