Film Screening: Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains

To celebrate two years of the DC Punk Archive project, we are screening the super punk (though not in DC) film, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains. This 1982 cult classic stars a very young Diane Lane and Laura Dern. The film will begin at 7 p.m. and runs one hour and 27 minutes.

Join us on September 24 at the Tenleytown Library for Art all Night: Made in DC. The library will be open on Saturday from 7 p.m. until midnight for children's art and craft workshops, temporary Henna skin decorations, literary readings, a sculpture room, photo exhibits and a local history display.

Art all Night: Made in DC

Join us on September 24 at the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library for Art all Night: Made in DC. The library will be open from 7 p.m. on Saturday until 2 a.m. on Sunday morning for music, crafts, and face painting as well as library cards. Special thanks to Shaw Main Street for providing entertainment. Entertainment includes performances by the Batala Drummers, music by DJ Nuff Said, face painting by Peaky Paints, arts workshops by DC Artspace, and a special installation-in-progress by artist Elizabeth Baldwin.  


September’s TGIF DIY Day: Insta- CD Vision Mobiles        Now that school has started, it’s time to get your room “on fleek!”  Come out to PKL’s September TGIF (Teens Get Inventive on Fridays) DIY Craft activity.  Make a “fly” strand of cd collages that bring the bling and that show off how you want to see yourself and how you want your year to go.        There is a different TGIF DIY activity each month.  September: Back-to-School

Teen Advisory Group

Need community service hours? Consider joining Teen Advisory Group.  We are responsible youth ages 14-18 who help with service projects and plan teen events at the library.  We meet in Teen Space every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Snack is provided and no prior signup is necessary.

Earn Community Service Hours as a Tutor

GIVE is a nonprofit who can pair you with an elementary or middle school child. You will help that child with their academic work and act as a mentor to them. This is a fun way to give back to the community and earn community service hours.
