Our season of movies with Pride concludes with a special screening of this classic Australian movie about three drag queens and their adventures across the desert as they try to make it to a casino gig in remote Alice Springs in their lavender-colored bus, Priscilla.1994. Directed by Stephan Elliott. Starring Terrence Stamp, Hugo Weaving, and Guy Pearce. This movie is rated R.

Germs Transmission and HIV Workshop

The Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League, otherwise known as SMYAL,  will offer a series of workshops at various locations throughout the DC Public Library system.  These workshops will focus on how germs are transmitted and how they affect the body, with a special emphasis on HIV and AIDS.

HIV / STIs 101

 Have questions about sexual health?  Drop in to the meeting room on the main floor from 3 – 6 p.m. for some real talk about condoms, HIV, STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections), and testing  resources in the DC area.   Service Providers from the Latin American Youth Center will answer all your questions. Free & confidential testing will be available afterward.

DC Moving Pictures Film Screening: 'Detour' (1945)

 Join us for a special screening of the classic 1945 film noir, Detour, directed by Edgar G. Ulmer in the large meeting room Thursday, June 19 at 7 p.m.  A discussion with members of DC Moving Pictures will follow the screening. DC Moving Pictures is a local collaborative dedicated to the moving image, championing film and video that does not get seen enough.

Forensic Mystery Workshop

In this interactive workshop, teens will examine a real set of human bones to determine the identity of an unknown person. Come learn about forensic science and the ways scientists find clues in evidence.

DIY Temporary Tattoos

Teens will create temporary tattoos on their own skin using eyeliner & bandage spray. Earn the Get Crafty Badge
