French Story Time at Chevy Chase Library

This program has temporarily moved to the Chevy Chase Library from the Cleveland Park Library French Story Time is for children of all ages. This program includes songs, music and motion and is very interactive. Children have the opportunity to learn French songs, practice their French, and connect words with motion, as well as enjoy stories. Come and join us at the Chevy Chase Library every Thursday at 4 p.m.

Share the fun of reading with your children ages 3-5 years. Children and their caregivers, will explore stories and activities to encourage children to develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. These 30-40 minute programs are designed to promote language and listening skills, expand children’s imaginations and arouse their curiosity about the world around them. Class groups are welcome. Please no children under 2 years of age unless attending with a sibling or class group.

An evening story time where pajamas are encouraged but not required. These 30-40 minute evening programs are designed to delight children of all ages. Filled with stories and activities that promote and develop language skills and imagination, these programs encourage children to develop a lifelong love of reading and learning.

An Afternoon with Winnie the Pooh

In celebration of A.A. Milne's birthday on January 18, we're spending an afternoon with one of the world's most lovable characters, Winnie the Pooh. We'll read a story about Pooh's adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his friends Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and Rabbit, watch a movie and make a Pooh and friends craft to take home. As Tigger says, it'll be "absitively, posolutely, splendiferous!" Best for children 5 and older.  Snacks provided.

Hot Cocoa Literacy Lounge

Keep your child's early literacy skills sharp this winter break! Register online for DC Public Library's Winter Reading Program and bring your eager and reluctant readers in Kindergarten,1st and 2nd grade to the library on Wednesday, December 28 at 11a.m. for some yummy hot cocoa (with marshmallows!) as they read aloud from some of our most popular Easy Readers (at levels that are most appropriate for each child).
