Did you know July is National Ice Cream Month?
Well, the Northwest One Library is celebrating by teaching children how to make homemade ice-cream. We will be using simple everyday ingredients to make it. Not only will children enjoy their tasty creations, but they will learn the science behind how it was made. So join us. We look forward to seeing you.
Share the fun of reading with your children ages 3-5 years. Children and their caregivers, will explore stories and activities to encourage children to develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. These 30-40 minute programs are designed to promote language and listening skills, expand children’s imaginations and arouse their curiosity about the world around them. Class groups and daycares welcome at these sessions. Please no children under 2 years of age unless attending with a sibling or class group.
These 20-30 minute story times are full of books, songs, rhymes, and fingerplays for children birth to two years old. Our Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. With slightly more activity and movement than our lap times, children and their caregivers are encouraged to engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program.
It’s Shark Week! Learn more about these fascinating and fearsome creatures with a special program in the Children's Department. The program includes read-aloud stories, songs, crafts, and hands-on learning activities!
Show off your creative side while sticking to two colors: black and white. We'll not only be making art, but we'll be examining black and white art featured in some of the most popular children's books of all time (and maybe even read aloud a book or two). Let's get messy!
Come to our Caribbean American story time on Monday, June 27, at 10 am!
There will be stories about Caribbean culture and Caribbean American culture, singing songs, and each child will make a tropical blue Morpho Butterfly that he or she will be able to take home!
Celebrate Juneteenth at Parklands Turner with a special story time on Tuesday, June 14 at 10 a.m.! We'll read stories about Juneteenth, sing songs, and everyone will make their very own Juneteenth flag that they can take home with them!
Makers come in all shapes, sizes and ages. A little too young for Petworth's Maker Camp? Come to our Mini Makers' Crafternoon sessions!Children ages 3 to 6 will explore one of our Maker themes, such as "Fantasy," or "Fun and Games," or "Engineering" using a story and/or a video demo as inspiration for their special creations.All materials will be supplied, but feel free to contribute your own small toys and odds-and-ends from around the house. Parental consent needed for photography/video recording.
