It's Chuck Brown's Birthday! Come and Celebrate it at the Woodridge Interim Library

Come and help us celebrate Chuck Brown's Birthday through his music, video clips and a discussion of the DC Go Go Movement.  You will also learn about the DC Public Library's Go-Go Archives and how to get free access to Chuck Brown's music by just having a DC Public Library library card.
BARSWords, Beats and Life logo


BARS is a workshop for youth who enjoy rapping, spoken word and beats. Teens will study songs by artists like Kendrick Lamar and Lauryn Hill, discuss writings by Tupac Shakur and Mumia Abu Jamal (among others) and record posse cuts and individual songs that correspond with what they have read. For teens, ages 13-19.

Their friendly and professional wildlife presenters have years of experience entertaining audiences of all ages with funny animal stories and facts while showcasing a colorful variety of exotic animals.   This program is open to attendees ages 5 and up (and their accompanying adults).

Visit DCPL's UNI (our mobile library bookshelf) at this year's Words, Beats & Life "Phife Is Living" Park Jam. In addition to great local music, vendors and activities (like graffiti, skate demos and bike repairs), your neighborhood librarians will be available to check out books, sign you up for a library card, and give you the dish on Summer Reading.
