Halloween Movie Spooktacular

Two full days of Halloween films

The Tenley Neighborhood Library has extended its annual Halloween Movie Spooktacular to cover two full days. This year, we will start at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 and 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. For the full schedule, please call 727-1225. You'll have a frighteningly good time!

They were honored for their struggles against the suppression of children and young people and for their tireless support of the right of all children to receive education.

In the Zone: Masks

Make your own mask - just in time for Halloween!

Come to the children’s program room after school (4 p.m.) Tuesday, Oct. 21 and get in the Halloween spirit. For this month’s “In the Zone” activity, we will be making paper masks from our craft supplies. Choose a cute, fun, or frightful Halloween alter-ego from from one of our templates, or make your own. Add on feathers, glitter, sequins - whatever! It’s yours to create. This program is recommended for ages 6 - 12.

Banned Books Week, Sept. 21 – 27, 2014, reminds all of us about the importance of preventing censorship and ensuring everyone’s freedom to read any book they choose.  According to the American Library Association, (ALA) hundreds of reported attempts to ban books every year in the United States.
