Exhibit Location: MLK Library, Floor 5
Presented by the local arts organization Love 4 Immigrants and guest curated by Salomé Cosmique, a Trauma Informed Teaching Artist and curator, born in Colombia and currently residing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, ARTivism: New Beginnings focuses on transforming ourselves and our communities through the power of art.
For the spring exhibit at the MLK Library, Love 4 Immigrants will explore how creative expression can heal our pain and traumas, authentically convey cultural heritage and identities, and address pressing social and environmental issues. The exhibition features visual artworks in photography, painting, and mixed media by AnaYelsi Velasco Sanchez, Rama AlFarkh, and Wole Ajagbe.
An opening reception was held on Monday, March 24, from 5:30-8:30 pm featuring performances/screenings and a walkthrough with the curator and artists. A final performance and artist talk with Jessica Fairfax Hirst AKA Palmer Fishman will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
The exhibit has been extended through August 22, 2025.
