The Chevy Chase Library and the Chevy Chase Community Center are being reimagined as part of the redevelopment of the Chevy Chase Civic Site in Ward 3. Rift Valley Chevy Chase, LLC is the project developer, and Studios Architecture is the design lead.
D.C. Public Library is bringing a new, full-service library to the Congress Heights neighborhood. To be located at 1304 Alabama Ave, SE, this 20,000 square foot facility will sit adjacent to the Congress Heights Metro Station. Design is nearing completion and construction should begin later this fall. The library has selected the design-build team of Perkins + Will Architects and Turner Construction.
The new Congress Heights Library will replace the current Parklands-Turner Library, a storefront branch, located at 1547 Alabama Ave, SE. Designed to better serve the community with expanded spaces and resources, the new library is scheduled to open in 2027.
DC Public Library will soon celebrate the reopening of two neighborhood libraries that have been closed for renovation and modernization. The Petworth Library will reopen on Sunday, Aug. 23 and the Southeast Library will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 10.
