'Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption,' by Bryan Stevenson

Founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, Bryan Stevenson has dedicated his life to defending those who are most in need: the wrongly condemned, the poor, women and children trapped in the justice system. Stevenson has written an engaging and unforgettable account of his work, beginning with one of his first cases, that of Walter McMillian, a young man sentenced to die for a murder he did not commit. The complexities of this case influenced and set Stevenson on the path of mercy and justice, a path he continues to follow today.

'Invisible City' by Julia Dahl

Cleveland Park Mystery Book Club July selection

Thursday, July 2, 6:30 p.m. we will be discussing Julia Dahl's Invisible City, the first in a series featuring newspaper reporter Rebekah Roberts. Child of a Jewish mother and Christian father, Rebekah learns about her heritage while covering the story of a murdered woman in the Hassidic community of Brooklyn.

History/Biography Book Club

A new book club at Cleveland Park

The Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library is getting a new book club! Well, not new, actually - it's been around for almost 10 years. It's the History/Biography Book Club. It began at the Martin Luther King Library in 2005, moved to the Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library in 2011, and is now coming to Cleveland Park. It meets the fourth Monday of every month but December.

Brown Bag DC

Join the conversation. This Twitter book club meets every Wednesday at lunchtime to compare notes with library staffers and customers on what you're currently reading. Love it or hate it, we want to know. The meetings are held from noon until 1 p.m on Twitter using the hashtag #brownbagdc.

Chevy Chase Library Book Club

Chevy Chase Library book club is the library's oldest book club. We discuss new and notable fiction and non-fiction. We meet the first Tuesday of the month, and you can find our monthly selections at dclibrary.org/chevychase. You can also email emily.menchal@dc.gov for more information.

Feeder's Advisory Book Club

Do you love browsing through cookbooks? Do you relish the idea of discussing different cuisines and food related topics? Then Feeder's Advisory is just for you! Love in Color Book Club

Moveable Feast Classics Book Group

The Moveable Feast Classics Book Group meets on the second Monday of every month at 2 p.m., rotating between Georgetown, Palisades, and Cleveland Park Libraries. This is an opportunity to revisit an old favorite, finally get to something you’ve always meant or wanted to read, or explore something new to you. Mt. Pleasant Reads

All genres and readers are welcome! We typically meet on the third Wednesday of every month. Reading the club selection is not a requirement to attend (just be forewarned that there will be spoilers). Titles will be decided by group members and a limited number of copies will be set aside at the Mt. Pleasant Library. Fill out this form to be added to the book club mailing list. Palisades Library Book Club

This club meets once a month on the third Tuesday at the Palisades Neighborhood Library. The club reads a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction with occasional forays into poetry and plays. Queer Book Club

Short Trips Short Story Book Club

Explore the world through short stories. Each month this book club reads three short stories written by an author from another country or an immigrant or refugee to the U.S. We meet the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Tenley-Friendship Library. The Page Turners Book Club

Are you in need of a page-turner? Welcome to the Parklands-Turner Book Club! No genre is off limits, we read a range of fiction and nonfiction titles.
