This is My Story: Memoir Writing at the Petworth Writers' Workshops

These 20-to-30-minute story times are full of books, songs, rhymes and finger plays for children birth to 2 years old. Our Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. With slightly more activity and movement than our lap times, children and their grownups are encouraged to engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program.  Note: Will not meet on Monday, June 17.

Strong Start DC Community Playgroup: 12-24 Months

The Strong Start DC Early Intervention Program Community Playgroups are monthly hour-long sessions led by early intervention professionals at locations across the city. Families will engage in family-centered, child interest-driven play and learn about early childhood development, developmental screenings and the Strong Start DC Early Intervention Program referral process. Each session includes songs, stories, sensory experiences, motor activities and more geared toward the targeted age group. This playgroup is for children 12-24 months old.

West End Library Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment.

An interactive engagement program for children and caregivers that uses play and exploration to develop pre-literacy skills.  Caregivers are expected to actively engage with children using the designed early literacy stations and prompts. This one hour program will rotate through sensory experiences, art and play.

Children and their grownups are encouraged to actively engage and participate with the stories and activities during the program. All programs are free and open to the public.

Join us for a relaxing and gentle yoga class for all levels of fitness and experience with yoga. Classes are limited to the first thirty (30) participants. Doors open at 10:15 a.m. and close promptly at 10:30 a.m.  Please bring your own yoga mat (other props such as straps and blocks are optional).  About the Instructors: Robin Glantz, Alexis Chen, and Alex-Marie McGuire, certified yoga teachers, bring free weekly yoga to our library.

After story time, your child will participate in a process-oriented art project to explore art materials and the world around them. Process-oriented art focuses on what can be learned from the act of making art rather than the product.
