MLK and Faunteroy

The Beloved Community: MLK and Activism in Washington, D.C.

Library Takeout

11 a.m.
The nation’s capital has always been associated with civic activism, particularly during the tumultuous years of the civil rights movement. No single person stood out as much as a beacon of civil engagement and activism during that time than Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. King’s concept of the “beloved community.” This would be a principle for all people to follow who were concerned about making positive changes regarding injustice, economic and social inequality.
