The Financially Fit DC: A Virtual Workshop on Black Generational Wealth Building was designed to provide information on homeownership and investing, help close the racial wealth gap and increase financial literacy in the African American community. The event will have discussions on the racial wealth gap, economic justice, and personal finance tools and resources to help residents learn how to build wealth.

Maker Talk: Natural Dyes with Jack Salt Moon

D.C. fiber artist, Jack Salt Moon, will share their process for dying fabric using all-natural plant dyes. Salt Moon will provide a tour of their in-home studio/workspace, talk about the process behind creating natural dyes, and demonstrate how to use indigo dye.

This hands-on workshop will teach attendees how to research the history of their D.C. house using primary sources found online. Researchers will learn to use building permits, historic maps, city directories, census records, newspapers and other resources to find out about the building itself, as well as the people associated with it.
