Join us virtually on Saturdays at 10 a.m. for the Tenley-Friendship Branch ESL Conversation Circle. The hour-and-a-half sessions are for non-native speakers of English ages 18 and older.

Do you love to read and talk about books? Are you interested in participating in a book discussion using American Sign Language (ASL)? If so, this book club is for you! We meet the second Monday of every other month, from 2 - 3 p.m., via Zoom. The book club is facilitated in ASL by Janice Rosen, Librarian, Center for Accessibility. ASL/voice interpreters will be present. Let us know if you need other reasonable accommodations.

American Sign Language: Beginning Level

Join us for our ever-popular series’ of American Sign Language (ASL) classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 - 1 p.m.
This will be a chance for Beginning Level signers to meet and practice conversing and learn some basic signing skills, up to 100 vocabulary words, and rules of grammar. Although focus is on beginners, everyone is welcome to join the class, regardless of skill level.

Tiber Island Book Club

The Tiber Island Book Club has been meeting for more than 20 years to share our love of books. Meeting places have included the Georgetown Library, The Portrait Gallery Courtyard, Southwest Library, the Tiber Island Co-op and, of course, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.

Janice will sign in ASL and Jenny will read aloud from a fun book, then teach some signs from our story, and how to sign the song “The More We Get Together.”
Even though the program is designed for ages 2-5, all are welcome. Automatic captioning will be available.
