The Anacostia Neighborhood Library is pleased to be partnering with Community Connections, who will be here every Tuesday and Thursday to provide supportive services to promote housing stability and to prevent homelessness. Services offered include assistance with obtaining IDs, completing applications for services, and guidance with regards to Social Security Disability Income. Community Connections staff will be located in one of our study rooms and no appointment is needed.

Tuesday Yoga is back!  A free beginner yoga class taught by Megan Mamula of Yoga District.  We meet in the sunny children's programming room.  Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring your own mat or towel.  Participants will have to sign a waiver. 18+ please.

Learn about grief, its stages, and moving on in this helpful workshop. Steve Asher, MSW, LICSW, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, will facilitate this free event: Open to the public, it is a class about the grieving process, not an actual therapy session. The workshop will seat audience members on a first-come, first-served basis.

Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat, or a few mats will be available for use. First-time attendees will be asked to sign a participation waiver. This is a no-cost class for everyone!

Yoga Mondays

Stretch into summer with the help of a gentle yoga practice. Classes are free and 75 minutes long. Please bring your own yoga mat.  Seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, but limited to 30 participants. Registration will open each week before class at 10:15 a.m. Preregistration is not available.

Housing Assistance with Community Connections

Mondays at Southeast Library, visit with staff from Community Connections to learn about how you might get help from The Cooperative Agreements to Benefit Homeless Individuals (CABHI). CABHI is a program that links the homeless population to mental health, substance abuse treatment, recovery support, supportive employment and permanent supportive housing services. If you or someone you know could use these resources, drop in, say hello, and learn more!
