Enjoy Latin-inspired movements that provide a great aerobic workout while also focusing on balance, range of motion and coordination. This class is designed for seniors aged 60 and up. Learn how to thread the machine, proper hand placement and everything else you need to start sewing straight lines and curves. In partnership with Iona Senior Services, the DC Office on Aging, and Around Town DC, Palisades Library will be offering Tai chi with Norman Greene, who has been teaching Tai chi to all age groups since 1985, and is also an artist. Tai chi chan can help strengthen balance, posture, memory and patience. The single movements of Tai chi can help us enjoy ourselves by slowing down and enjoying the moment. It is fun and helps the meditative practice. This class is intended for DC residents age 60 or older. Please bring your own water bottle.

Living Well Self Management Workshops

In partnership with DC Health and other major health care providers, the Anacostia Library is offering the Living Well Self Management Workshops. These workshops are free to adults seeking help to manage health conditions such as cancer, depression or anxiety, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and more. The workshops will offer techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep and living with uncertainty. Living Well Workshops will take place at 10 a.m. every Saturday,  Sept. 7 - Oct. 19.
