Baby-Toddler Story Time

1:30 p.m.
A story time experience for our youngest library users. These 20-30 minutes story times introduce books, songs, rhymes and bounces developmentally appropriate for children ages birth to two years old.  Baby Lap Time is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the joys of reading in a positive and fun atmosphere. This story time is designed so the baby will be on a lap and the grownup is actively involved in the program.  This program is free and open to the public.

Science in the Summer: Level 2

Georgetown Library

3:30 p.m.
Students will discover how science helps athletes perform in their sports.  They will participate in challenges (balance, stability, reaction time) to understand physical and mental skills that can be helpful in sports and learn about the importance of good nutrition.  To understand the science behind the development of different types of protective sports equipment, students will build models.  In addition, they will explore the physics of several popular sports.  Students will create profile cards of their own ultimate athlete or sports scientist.

The Southeast Kids' Book Club meets on the last Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. At each Kids Book Club meeting, we discuss the book we've read, enjoy a fun theme activity, and enjoy snacks. Participants will also vote on the next book we'll read! New titles are typically introduced so participants can pick the perfect book to read at home. Do you like to build with Legos and solve puzzles? Join us to work through engineering and science activities like, "who can build a paper airplane that carries the most cargo over 10 feet," or just come to build with Legos and relax after school. We'll have a different short science activity each week at the beginning and Lego building afterward. This program is recommended for ages 4 and up.

This story time is designed so the baby will be in their caregiver’s lap and the grownup is actively involved in the program; it is recommended that each child have their own adult with them.

This workshop will teach the youth how to use different types of cameras focusing on basic camera functions, good picture taking skills and documenting changes in the community. All workshop will expose the youth to books of famous, local and national professional minority artist in photography. This program is free and offers a great experience for youth. Tuesdays and Thursdays June 27 - August 13, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Looking to learn a valuable skill? Want to learn how to knit? Join us for our first meeting of the Kid’s Knitting Club! Visiting knitting teacher, Teri Huet will instruct participants on the basics of knitting, how to get started, and more. Topics and projects will change in the coming months. All supplies provided including needles and yarn. Parents and caretakers are encouraged to stay and participate with your children.
