Baby and Toddler Storytime

These 20-30 minute story times are full of books, songs, rhymes and fingerplays for children birth to two years old. Our Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. Children and their caregivers are encouraged to engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program.

Learn early literacy tips from Children’s Librarians.  Relax, let loose, and have a ball! For children ages birth to 3, along with parents and their caretakers.

Looking to learn a valuable skill? Want to learn how to knit? Join us for a new season of the Kid’s Knitting Club! Visiting knitting teacher, Teri Huet will instruct participants on the basics of knitting, how to get started, and more. Returning students will get to start new projects and new students will get the basics. All supplies provided including needles and yarn. This series will continue through the fall. Parents and caretakers are encouraged to stay and participate with your children.

Our chess instructor will teach the chess players how to think and plan their next move and use their brain power to win. Come and join our Chess group and learn to make a risky move, Check, Mate, and have fun. This program is made possible by the Friends of the Chevy Chase Library. All Ages. Southeast Library is holding its third annual creative Halloween contest! We want you to enter your best Halloween drawing, painting, short story, or poem. Entries must be turned to by October 26 at the Information Desk. Entries will be judged by the public from October 27 - 31. Winners will be contacted after voting and displayed in November.For ages 5-19. Drawings and paintings will be judged in a separately from short stories and poems.  The age groups judged will be: 5-8 10-12 13-19

Come by the library every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for weekly Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library book sales. The Friends room is up on the 2nd floor across from the entrance to the Children's Room.   All ages
