Art and Photography Workshops

Sign of the Times Cultural Workshop and Gallery will offer tailored children's workshops this Summer that will include:  Draw and Paint My Neighborhood and Photography Classes for the Young, a 6 week program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting July 6 - August 12, 2010.  Ages 10-13 years.  There will be limited enrollment, so please register early.

Come and enjoy an afternoon with the Capitol View Book Club.  This month's book is "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett.  A poignant tale about three women, and a time and a place, that are in many ways is still with us, the south in 1962.   Wednesday, April 14th, at 1:30 p.m.

Need Help With Your Questionnaire?

The Capitol View Neighborhood Library is an Authorized Census Questionnaire Assistance Center.  If you need help with your Census Questionnaire, assistance is available March 19-April 19, 2010:  Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  Friday and Saturday 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.  "It's In Our Hands." 

Video Storybooks

Children Can Watch, Listen and Learn to Read

Scholastic’s BookFlix encourages kids to read on their own.  Video storybooks such as Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! offer music, animation/artwork and narration. Fiction titles are paired with nonfiction books. For example, Curious George Rides a Bike is paired with a book on monkeys.  Dot the Fire Dog is paired with A Very Busy Firehouse. Some titles are available in Spanish.  Algunos títulos están disponibles en español.
