Cleveland Park Library Parking Lot to Close

Beginning Tuesday, March 23

The Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library parking lot will be closed for repairs beginning Tuesday, March 23 and will remain closed for five to seven days. The library is located within easy walking distance of the Cleveland Park Metro Station, and offers limited street parking on Macomb Street at the Corner of Connecticut Avenue, NW.

French Language Story Time

A Fun Introduction to French for Little Ones!

Join us on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. for stories and songs in French.  This program is for children of all ages, with adult participation. French beginners are included!  Our Preschool films follow immediately at 4:30 p.m.  Bienvenue!

Cleveland Park Mystery Book Club

Thursday, March 4, 6:30 p.m.

Join us at Barnes & Noble 12th and E Streets, N. W. to discuss the page-turner Buried Strangers by Leighton Gage, the second book featuring Chief Inspector Mario Silva of the Brazilian Federal Police.  The author creates a sense of place and politics that captures the reader's imagination and an investigation full of corruption, intrigue, and forensic detail.

Early Literacy Story Times

The Cleveland Park Children's Room offers Early Literacy Storytimes for specific age groups on a weekly basis.  Parents and careproviders are invited to bring their yougnsters to these interactive programs:  Wonderful Ones (12 to 23 months) on Mondays at 10 a.m.; Terrific Twos (24 months and older) on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.; and Babytime (birth to 12 months) on Fridays at 10 a.m.  

Happy Birthday, Dr. King!

Children's Program

Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library's children's staff will present "Happy Birthday Dr. King on Wednesday, January 13th at 1:30 p.m. for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade.  The program will combine stories about Dr. King, a flannel board presentation, and a Picturing America discussion of the historic marches led by Dr. King in a non-violent protest against segregation.   

National Children's Museum Workshop

For Teachers, Aides and Librarians

On Tuesday, January 12th, from 3:30 until 6 p.m., Cleveland park Neighborhood Library will host a" Family Literacy Project on a Budget" workshop presented by the National Children's Museum for teachers, aides and librarians. Program providers will demonstrate craft projects related to children's books using inexpensive, recycled and found objects. Celebration at Cleveland Park Library

First 100 Patrons to Receive Gift Bag

Tomorrow (Tuesday, January 5), the first 100 library users at the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library will receive thank-you gift bags to celebrate the 100%  increase in the number of books and DVDs borrowed from the DC Public Library since 2006.In fiscal year (FY) 2006, 1,198,605 books and other items were borrowed.  By the end of October, over 2.5 million books, DVDs and other items were borrowed from the library.
