First Anniversary Celebration

The Deanwood Neighborhood Branch Library and Recreation Center will mark its one-year anniversary Saturday, June 25, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. 

Deanwood Neighborhood Library Closed

Deanwood Neighborhood Library and Recreation Center will be closed Friday, June 17.  The Department of Parks and Recreation is having a staff training day. Please visit the nearest libraries: Dorothy I. Blue Sky Puppet Theatre: "If Pigs Could Fly"

On Tuesday, June 21, at 4 p.m., come and travel with Chester, Buster and Suzy Pig as they go to the library to participate in the summer reading program "One World, Many Stories."  Travel to Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to see four types of puppetry:  shadow, rod, hand and toy theater with a special feature of a "cranky." Recommended for ages 3-8, but enjoyable by all ages. For more information, please call.  All programs and free and open to the public.

Sushmita Mazumdar: Animal Rhymes

Make rhymes into fun stories that look like the animals themselves.  Come and make your own book, or just enjoy an activity and rhyme sheet.  Thursday, June 9, at 10 a.m. Recommended for ages 5-12 years. Please call for more information.

Job Clinic

Neighboring Now Ward 7 and Deanwood Library offer a free job clinic on Saturday, February 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Saturday, March 5, from 1 to 3 p.m."Life Happens... Are You Ready?"   is a Greater DC Cares Neighboring Now Initiative program.One-on-one volunteer job coaches will assist the unemployed and underemployed with the tools they need to search for jobs as well as teaching interview techniques to gain and maintain employment.
