Dumbarton Theater

Six years ago Georgetown architect Robert Bell announced his intention to restore the circa 1950 façade and neon sign of 1351 Wisconsin Ave. N.W., the former Georgetown Theater.  Occupied today by the National Jewel Center, the present street elevation bears no resemblance to the architectural fantasy that greeted customers when the movie theater originally opened nine decades ago as the Dumbarton.

Upcoming Book Club Meetings

Next week we'll be having two book club meetings at the Georgetown Interim Library.  Join us on Tuesday, January 19 to discuss Lucinda Rosenfeld's I'm so Happy for You or on Thursday, January 21 to discuss Lorrie Moore's A Gate at the Stairs -- or both!  Book club meetings take place at 7:30 p.m. at the library and are open to all.

Georgetown Anniversary Party Redux

Since the Last One Was Snowed Out!

Join us on Saturday, January 9 for an all day celebration of the Georgetown Interim Library's 1st anniversary.  We will have yummy treats, hot chocolate, coffee and tea.  There will be crafts, stories, the chance to challenge an International Chess Master, and more!10 a.m. Story time with Miss Tracy11 a.m. Story time with Miss Micki12 p.m. Make your own gingerbread houses1:30 p.m. Music by the Georgetown Boys & Girls Club3:30 Play chess with an International Chess Master as he competes in up to 20 simultaneous games! Georgetown Anniversary Party This Saturday

Join us this Saturday for an all day party celebrating one year of library service at the Georgetown Interim Branch!  We'll have story times at 10 and 11 a.m., we'll make gingerbread houses at noon, and at 1 p.m. The Georgetown Boys and Girls Club will provide musical entertainment.
