Baby and Toddler Story Time

These 20-to-30-minute story times are full of books, songs, rhymes and finger plays for children birth to 2 years old. Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. With slightly more activity and movement than our lap times children and their grownups are encouraged engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program. Story Times are ticketed and first-come, first-served. For groups of more than six please call 202-671-3125 to schedule a visit.

Little STEM Explorers

Join us for science story time!  Little STEM Explorers is the perfect introduction for toddlers to basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts. This interactive story time experience concludes with self-directed, hands-on experiments for children. Suitable for ages 2 and up. This event is ticketed on a first-come, first-served. Celebrate Black History Month at DC Public Library! Come join us for a screening of the documentary: Suppressed: The Fight to Vote (a film by Robert Greenwald). The film focuses on the rampant voter suppression that affected the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections in Georgia, and stars Stacey Abrams as the documentary's point of focus. The film is not rated and runs for 38 minutes.

Baby Lap Time

A story time experience for our youngest library users and their caregivers. These 20-to-30-minute story times introduce books, songs, rhymes, tickles and bounces developmentally appropriate for children from birth to when they start walking. Baby Lap Time is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the joys of reading in a positive and fun atmosphere. This story time is designed so the baby will be in their caregiver’s lap and the grownup is actively involved in the program; it is recommended that each child have their own adult with them.
