Petworth Library Renovation

The Petworth Library will reopened Sunday, Aug. 23, after a nine-month, comprehensive renovation. The goal of this renovation is to maintain the existing facility and provide a refresh that will ensure the library continues to meet evolving neighborhood needs. The library worked with Chiaramonte Construction Company and Moya Design Partners for design and construction. 

The project reconfigured the library’s layout and upgraded its systems to better serve the community. The new design thoughtfully and cohesively re-envisions the library’s furniture, finishes, and material palette, along with improved power, data, and lighting. It includes:

• Relocating Adult and Youth Services to separate floors—Adult Services will move to the Ground Level, and Teen Services to the Upper Level.
• New flooring, wallcoverings, and furniture throughout the building.
• Additional upgrades will include
  • Acoustical Panels
  • Improved Signage
  • Water Bottle Refill Station
  • Select window replacements
  • An upgraded Building Automation System (BAS). A BAS is a system that allows heating and cooling settings to be controlled centrally.
