Recently, the DC Public Library has experienced an unexpected backlog in fulfilling holds. This has been caused in part by the closure of one of our largest book distributors, prompting changes to our internal receiving and cataloging processes as well as staffing. As a result, materials have taken longer than usual to move through our system and reach their destination branches.
We want you to know that we are actively addressing this issue. We are implementing a solution that includes increasing staffing to help process and move materials more quickly. We appreciate your patience as we work through this backlog and return to the level of service you expect and deserve. Please check our website for updates as they become available. In the meantime, we invite you to check out our collection of e-books that are Available Now. If you would like, you can also visit the staff at your local library who can suggest similar titles.
