These 30-to-40-minute programs are designed to promote language and listening skills, expand children’s imaginations and arouse their curiosity about the world around them.

This 20-to-30-minute program is full of books, songs, rhymes and finger plays for children birth to 2 years old. Our Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. Children and their grownups are encouraged to engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program.

Join forces with other adventurers to explore a world of fantasy and danger. Experienced game masters will introduce you to the role-playing/storytelling game of Dungeons & Dragons. Dungeons & Dragons is a classic role-playing game set in a fantasy universe where players can bring their imagination to life. Ages 13-19.

Learn to Play Chess

Thursday, August 23, 2018, 6:30 pm

Join us for weekly chess instruction on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. This program is for children ages 9-12 who want to learn to play or improve their chess moves. Our chess instructor will teach the chess players how to think and plan their next move and use their brain power to win. Come and join our chess group and learn to make a risky move or two and have fun. Maximum number of participants is 15. This program is made possible by the Lamond-Riggs Library Friends.

Ice Cream Social

Let's celebrate our summer challenge accomplishments and enjoy ice cream!  When the social is over you can join dogs from People Animals Love (PAL) at 7 p.m. for a story hour where children will get the opportunity to read to the dogs.  For the safety of the children and dogs, this story hour is for children ages 4 through 12. Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult. But remember, all ages can enjoy ice cream!

Come Read to Your P.A.L.

Join dogs from People Animals Love (P.A.L.) for a special story hour on the fourth Tuesday of each month featuring an opportunity for children to meet and read with dogs. P.A.L. story hours provide a great way for your budding reader to get some reading practice in with an attentive and patient audience.  The story hour in May will be on the fifth Tuesday of the month (May 29). That is the only exception.
