Doggie Diaries: Adventures at the Library

From Harpo’s Diary: Wednesday, March 8, 2011
Howdy. I’m Harpo. I was so enthusiastic to get to the Takoma Park Library tonight. I couldn't contain myself. I jogged over to the car, a bit faster than usual, and then jumped into my co-pilot position. I was off to see my dear friend, Miss Julie, and I couldn’t be happier! I asked my driver to plug 416 Cedar St. N.W. into the vehicle’s navigation device. And, we were off…in the wrong direction! Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Oh, dearie me! It’s a good thing I have an excellent sense of direction and used my keen sense of smell to get us out of that predicament and back on track. Library bound!
Unfortunately, due to my late arrival, I didn’t get to hear Miss Julie read Dogs Don’t Do Ballet by Anna Kemp. I’ve never been much of a dancer myself. I have two left paws, followed by two right ones! The divine Mademoiselle Ella, the other (timely) PAL Guest Dog of Honor is rumored to be a spectacular twirler. I am sure her dancing is a sight to behold. She is a lovely pooch.
Fortunately, I did get to hear some other doggie tales. I heard No Dogs Here by Kathryn Hewitt and Pigeon Wants a Puppy by Mo Willems. Great books! I got lots of hugs and rubs and a kiss or two and even went on a walk around the library. I checked out the urban fiction display. I like to keep current. And would you believe there were real authors in the library tonight? The library is truly an incredible place to be. I cannot wait to go back!
Peace and Love,
The Big H (A.K.A. Harpo)
